CXFabric library of more than 100 interface icons in two styles

The Product

The library standardized navigation, controls, workflow actions, technical concepts, and status communication across CXFabric products.

More than 100 symbols cover common interface actions alongside specialized concepts for connectors, workflow nodes, AI agents, system resources, and execution states. Two complementary styles allow the same visual language to work in compact controls and more expressive product moments.

The Challenge

Existing icon sets covered familiar interface actions but did not consistently represent the specialized concepts inside an AI orchestration platform.

The system needed to remain clear at small sizes, feel cohesive across dense product surfaces, and grow without introducing mismatched metaphors, stroke weights, or optical proportions.

The Process

I audited product needs, established sizing and optical rules, built reusable components, organized the set, and documented practical guidance for design and engineering.

When existing icon sets could not communicate the platform’s technical concepts clearly, I developed custom metaphors and tested them in the interfaces where they would be used. Reusable components and shared naming made the expanding library dependable for product design, engineering, QA, and documentation.

Conclusion

The finished library created a shared visual language for more than 100 actions, objects, and system concepts across CXFabric.

It reduced one-off asset creation, made technical ideas easier to recognize, and gave design, engineering, QA, and documentation a dependable resource that could expand with the product.
